The Passing of Time

From our human standpoint, time passes so quickly.  It seems as if the beautiful autumn season lasted about as long as it took me to blink. Now the oak forest stands naked and grey against the backdrop of a sometimes vibrant, sometimes dull, sky.  Time is God's instrument, and He who made everything ex nihilo uses it to teach us a thing or two about His majesty and our littleness.

"Time has a good deal to do with testimony; time enters very subtly into all things human and mundane.  Men may make a ladder in a very short time, but who can make a tree?- and how constantly we are mistaking a tree for a ladder, or a ladder for a tree!  Time makes the tree; time makes character; time makes practical theology."
-Joseph Parker, The People's Bible

We gathered these roses in before the first seriously cold snap.

Early Purple Vienna Kohlrabi looks like something from outer space.

Taz is our school horse- she is calm enough to teach children
but still fiesty enough to be fun!

Our dear grandmother celebrated her 77th birthday this year.
Below is a picture of her at 17.

"Cheerfulness and contentment are great beautifiers,
and are famous preservers of good looks."
- Charles Dickens

This yellow iris is blooming a couple of months prematurely!
Or is that just our human perspective again?

Truly He has made everything beautiful in it's time.
